CD/DVD writer not found

Hi,

I have bought a pre-installed u-buntu on an Dell PC set and it has not found the CD/DVD writer - delivered within this set from the manufacturer.

Is there any routine like Find new HW or something that would fix the problem and find the DVD mechanics ?

Can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C disk; sudo lshw -C drive; lsb_release -a; uname -a

Hi, I have just upgraded the ubuntu to the newest version, and it did recognise the CD/DVD mechanics properly,
