how to format a usb stick with an MSDos partition

Is there a format utility with an MSDos option? I have tried Gparted and Disk Utility. I need the stick to use on a SONY player and it does not like other formats.

You can remove the partition using fdisk then make new and set the partition type to FAT32. You can then format it using mk2fs.vfat
