Transfering USB formatted with OS to Hard Drive

Hello, I have recently had a problem. I Booted Ubuntu V12.04 from a 16gb USB stick, but now I bought a 500gb Hard drive and I don't know how to transfer all of the USB data to the free 500GB of the Hard drive. I need an answer soon.

You can transfer all you personal data from the USB to the HDD. It is a bit difficult to transfer the installation altogether.

So, boot from Ubuntu USB, connect the HDD and transfer your personal data. Also you can transfer your configurations from your home directory. Use the "rsync" command for a reliable transfer.

After that, you can install Ubuntu to the HDD from scratch.

Did you use the USB stick and run Ubuntu off it or is it just the liveCD on a USB stick?
