hard drive partioning

I want to use the entire hard drive for ubuntu, part of the drive is NTFS, which I no longer need. I want to make sure I don't errase the linux partion.

I assume you have Ubuntu on one partition (not installed inside of windows). another another partition on there which no longer want (that may or may not have another os on it)

1. first off you ned to boot into a live disk and fire up the partiton manager (gparted) from the live disk.

2. ensure all partitions are dismounted

3. delete the ntfs volume

4. use the arrows on the partitions to resize your Ubuntu partition to take all the space.

5. if you had windows or another OS on there there is one more step to do... reboot into your installed Ubuntu... and opena terminal and run the command "sudo update-grub"

6. your done
