Having an error loading updates and software

Asked by Billy Wild

I'm having this issue: When I try to install something or update I get this error message:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
I followed the directions to fix it and it still won't work. It says:command not found.

sudo dpkg --configure -a

entered in a terminal windows give you an "command not found" error ?

could you copy/paste what you enter on the screen and what the system replies ?

I hope this gets to you Koen.

oem@freekbox:~$ sudo dpkg--configure-a
sudo: dpkg--configure-a: command not found
oem@freekbox:~$

This is what my terminal screen looks like when I type in the sudo command.
Thanks

Billy take care of spaces... when you type commands:

sudo <space> dpkg <space> --configure <space> -a

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Hope this helps
