I will upgrade Ubuntu from 11.04 to 11.10. Is the gnome-alsamixer in 11.10 supported?

I don't think. But this isn't a problem, you can simply check if it was installed or not after the upgrade, and install it simply.

It worked for me on 11.04 on 11.10 it produces segmentation fault. 11.10 is beginning to SUCK BIG TIME!

I've hit the Segmentation fault as well. For anyone interested, this is what I get in my gdb traceback:
