I have downloaded gimp but cant use the clone tool so would like to get the user manual however every time I click on the help button then the user manual i receive error message "unable to connect to Gimp help etc connection timed out" Any assistance appreciated.

To use the clone tool, you have to first mark an area for cloning, then paint with the referenced area.

Use the CTRL+left click to mark an area, then use left click to paint.
