Evertime open a file Gedit open new window

On my laptop, I use ubuntu 0.10 and setup gedit. Everytime I open a file Gedit open new window. Should be open file in the new tab of current Gedit before.
Anybody can help me?how configuration gedit? I wan to open new file, it open new tab on current gedit running before.

it should do this automatically, if you are running with compiz or "desktop effects" running it may get a bit confused and open a new window.

as a solution of sorts if you drag the file from the file browser/desktop to the gedit window instead of double clicking on the file, it should load in a new gedit tab.

start gedit like this:
gedit %U --new-window
OR
gedit --new-window
