language french disabled, automaticaly replaced by "English"

iI just cannot change language, " french" is automatically replaced by "English" ... thanks to let me know whether w hich ubunto verssions, if any, should be selected.

Please tell us what you have tried, and how you would know when it has worked? Are you trying to change the language of the menus or the spell-checker.
