Why is libgdk-pixbuf-dev not available in Karmic anymore?

http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/libgdk-pixbuf2 and http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/libgdk-pixbuf-dev are not available in Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) anymore.
Why?

I need libgdk_pixbuf.so.2
Has it been replaced by another library/package?
