gdesklets will not work

When I open up gdesklets I get a blank screen.

can you give us more information about your computer? such as video driver and so on.

and if you can, run gdesklets and go to System -> Administration -> System Log copy & paste there the relevated things about gdesklets error's/warning's

I have an AMD64 and since I installed Hardy after opening gdesklets I too get the blank screen. After that I have to quit the gdesklet console, as it seems to hang.
The log file gives the following line:
Jul 21 21:07:30 Johnny-5 kernel: [ 2761.620716] python[12236]: segfault at 6379 rip 7fb86780a89c rsp 7fff70a93360 error 4
