how to view a contact's webcam?

I have entered into my gaim buddy list the list from my yahoo messenger, and was able to send and receive IM's and conferences from a yahoo contact, but when I clicked on the "view my webcam" under a contact's name, I just got another IM screen. do I need to install anything else to view a webcam?

Thanks for your question.

There was a fork called Gaim-VV which had webcam support, Gaim itself does not provide video chats.

Pidgin (Gaims new name) plans to support video chat with version 3.0.

Hi Meerabarbara,

Maybe Im a little late, but just in case you didnt find any solution to your problem, you can try using 'kopete' instead of 'gaim'. It has what you're looking for. I think its a part of the 'kdenetwork' package.

thanks, have installed kopete and will try out webcam, thanks for your suggestion...
