Optional Away reminder notification

Asked by Eric

When I mark myself "away" and I come back to my machine, I usually forget to mark myself available. Is there a way that I can opt for GAIM to make a sound once a minute so that when I hear that sound, I remember that I have to make myself available again?

I don't think that this is possible without a custom plugin. You can just use the auto-away feature of Gaim which marks you away after a period of inactivity and available again as soon as you return. To play such a sound once a minute while you're away, I would suggest using a Shellscript. Gaim has an DBUS Interface and I am sure your current visibility is readable through that interface. Though I'm not an expert on DBUS usage and as such can't provide you with such a script, sorry.
