Ububtu all in one codecs?

Asked by damm57

I am new to Ububtu and I really like it. It is a breath of fresh air after all the problems with Windows and the lack of options for Mac. But I am having trouble with options for Ubuntu. Specifically codecs that will work with the player. Like an all in one I have with both Windows and Mac. Are there any available? Thanks. This is a great program. And free too. What a find!

Hello,

I have the solution for your problem easyubuntu https://launchpad.net/products/easyubuntu

"The aim of this project is to make (k)ubuntu machine usable (play mp3's, videos etc) in minutes even by your mom, grandpa, girlfriend, etc."

+ installs flash player, skype, java, real player, and a lot of school stuff too.
This is not a distribution, this is just a program that installs everything with one click. :D

Enjoy

Try Automatix - you can find step by step installation here: http://getautomatix.com/wiki/index.php?title=Installation&Itemid=38

Automatix is not recommended as it can mess up your system. EasyUbuntu is better!

If you refer to http://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats BOTH Automatix, AND EasyUbuntu are not recommended or supported.

Specifically this one little section https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats#head-99259e1841e1e1262f4f71e0c72d5a51b3fb69e9 will get most formats working for you. Also you get to learn a little more about your system, the bonus there is that as your knowledge grows you will loose your inhibitions about Ubuntu :-)

If you run into problems, just let us know and we can help walk you through any rough spots that you encounter.

Best Regards,
Williamts99
