How to upgrade Firefox from 1.07 to 1.5.0.1

I'm running Ubuntu 5.10 and Firefox 1.0.7. Downloaded Firefox-1.5.0.1.tar.gz but do not know how to install the tarball file to upgrade Firefox. Help please.

Hi,

Because this has been ased before, people wrote the instructions down at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FirefoxNewVersion

Please note that this is unsupported. Firefox in breezy hasn't been
upgraded because it would break many applications. You have to jump
through quite a few hoops to get it working.

Or you can upgrade Breezy to Dapper. In Drapper already have the new Firefox.
