Why isn't firefox 52 approved for zesty?

See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox and you will see that firefox 51 is currently in zesty-proposed.
What is the problem with that? Zesty is still in the development process.

Nothing really, I just figured zesty would move faster as it's a development release, and I've never really seen it take this long for a major browser release to move from proposed to accepted. Also I don't think there are any showstopper bugs for it, just wondering if it was forgotten about. :) But I'm sure it will be promoted before zesty reaches stable.

Let's see what the duration of firefox 52 will be (a.f.a.i.k. it's due for publication tomorrow).

Firefox 52 was pushed to all supported versions pretty quickly (despite some bugs) but hasn't been created for zesty yet. This doesn't seem normal so that was why I created the question, to see what was going on.

Any update on why 52 hasn't been approved (or even built) for zesty yet?

I can only guess, but it might be related to the fact that building firefox 52 for several architectures has failed so far.

True it fails building on arm, powerpc and s390, but that didn't stop it from getting into updates for all those distributions for i386 and x64, only on zesty is it not available for those platforms.

Ooh, I see 52.0.1 (which contains a critical security fix) has been put into zesty-proposed and builds successfully now on all important architectures (only failing armhf and s390x). I hope it gets promoted soon...

I just downloaded and installed the proposed build and its dependencies myself. Still don't really know why this isn't in approved for zesty.

52.0.2 has been approved for all other supported distributions but zesty is still stuck on 50.0.1. Sorry to be a gadfly, it's just unusual and I'm worried something may be wrong.

I do not know the reason myself, and I doubt that anyone else who tries answering in the question area has sufficient insight for being able to tell the background.

You might try contacting the developers.

The package maintainer is listed as Ubuntu-Mozilla-Team but according to their launchpad profile, "Ubuntu-Mozilla-Team does not use Launchpad". So I'm not sure who to contact. Definitely not Mozilla. I did just fine that Mozilla Team (https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam) should be responsible so I sent a message to them.
