I Cant get rid of the same dkpg error

dpkg failed to start error message . I cant get rid of this message. I have tried " dpkg --configure -a" but it tells me this requires super user privleges. I am the only user of this machine. I am the Super User aren't I. What must I do to rid myself of this problem?

Hi

First the short answer:
You need to run "sudo dpkg --configure -a". The machine will then ask for you password.

Now the longer explanation:
Ubuntu dosn't allow you to log in as superuser (root) for security reasons. But it makes the first user you create on your machine part of the admin group. The admin group has the right to use the sudo (SuperUser DO) which allows you to run commands as superuser after typing your user password.
