We need to generate a lot of random bytes. It is a good idea to perform
some other action (type on the keyboard, move the mouse, utilize the
disks) during the prime generation; this gives the random number
generator a better chance to gain enough entropy.

I believe that you are trying to upload your key to your keyserver.

"gpg --send-key 312DE008" will do so

I am having a similar problem with gpg.

When i attempt:
 gpg --send-key 0C351970

I get the following error
gpg: no keyserver known (use option --keyserver)
gpg: keyserver send failed: bad URI

So I attempted this;
gpg --keyserver --send-key 0C351970

Now the error is this
gpg: can't open '0C351970'

When I use the 'list keys', here is the output:

pub 1024D/0C351970 2007-05-01
uid Robert C. Mullins (Celt) <email address hidden>
sub 2048g/966E6314 2007-05-01

so I believe I am using the correct key, I have also googled 'gpg: cannot open......' with very little results.

Ok, I am trying something different;

gpg --keyserver certserver.pgp.com --send 0C351970

It seems that no matter which server I use, i get the following message:

gpg: Kkeyserver timed out
gpg: keyserver send failed: keyserver error

any hints here, this is a bit frustrating, but I realize I'm a bit inexperienced as well.

This is the definitive solution. obtain your info with

gpg --list-keys <email address hidden>

You get something like this:

pub 1024D/69BF6307 2008-05-11
uid Angel Massiris (Im like any other Moon Alien) <email address hidden>
sub 1984g/84AD0EE7 2008-05-11

Write down the second pub number, in my case 69BF6307

Now enter this commands:

gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --send-keys

gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --send-keys 69BF6307 (change this numbers for yours)

The terminal is not going to show anything for a while, its sending then number to the servers. If you spend a long while and nothing shows try pressing enter. After a while you should get this message:

gpg: sending key 69BF6307 to hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com

and that would be it
