How can I reset Foxfire to remember log-in password after initially declining the option?

Asked by Linda Ford

On my initial log-in to a work-related email account and being asked whether I wanted Foxfire to remember the password, I clicked "Not this time" [or something like that], thinking this would mean I would be asked again on future log-ins. I did not click "Never for this site," so the link doesn't show in the Exceptions list in Security Preferences. Any advice on how I can now have the browser record the password?

Normally, if you restart the browser and try to log in to that site, it will ask you again.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't get the query again after restarting the browser or even after restarting the whole system.

You can set this option through the firefox menu:

- Open menu Edit and select Preferences
- Select the security option in the top bar of the new window
- Mark the "Remember passwords for sites" option in the passwords section of the window

Now firefox will ask you again if it should remember the password for this site.

Thanks, but the "Remember passwords for sites" option has been checked all along.

OK, then we must check if your site is listed as exception. Go to the same menu as before, but now click exceptions, so

- Open menu Edit and select Preferences
- Select the security option in the top bar of the new window
- Click exceptions
- See if your site is listed here
- If your site is listed, select it and click remove

I hope that helps.

Thanks again, but as I mentioned in my original description of the problem, because I didn't click on "Never for this site" when I first logged onto the account in question, that site doesn't show up on the Exceptions list... I'm truly grateful for the help and hope someone will keep trying to help me solve this.

Look in the "Saved Passwords" section. See if there's an entry for that site. I have seen that when you click "no", it sometimes creates a blank entry in saved passwords. I'm not sure why, to be honest.

The site in question isn't listed with the Saved Passwords ... But thanks again, to everyone... Any more ideas?

Linda,

You can backup your bookmarks, and completely erase your .mozilla/firefox folder. This will remove all personal settings from Firefox and will be recreated when you restart Firefox. This is more of a last ditch effort, but may be what you are looking for.

I've also got this issue, specifically with launchpad.net . I've done
all the appropriate things. Password saving works elsewhere but not
here or, say, my bank.

I understand there's a way for a website to request a browser not
remember a password, so I thought perhaps a "remember password"
bookmarklet would help:

https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html

.. it didn't help.

Could there be another bookmarklet to use?

Can you help with this problem?
