extensions preferences

Asked by RJ Hythloday

Second day w/ kubuntu dapper drake. I got the sound card and printer working last night. I also figured out how to upgrade to firefox 2. after getting 1.5 from the repository. Now that I have 2 installed I am not able to do anything w/ the preferences in the extensions. I click the pref button and nothing happens for any of them. I also ended up w/ a white block at the bottom of the screen. It has a red arrow on the left side and is about 1" on my 19" monitor. Any help for either problem would be greatly appreciated.

edit: I tried to restart the browser and it wouldn't come up, so I restarted the system. Now I have a white bar at the bottom that is twice as big and has 2 red arrows on the left side.

Since it looks like you just begun to experiment with kubuntu, I'd suggest that you start with the latest release: 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon). You will get firefox 2 out of the box and all the additional features that were added since version 6.06 (Dapper Drake). Some of the improvements are related to firefox extensions.

That's a good thought, I really had a nightmare getting the printer working, I suppose it might be easier a second time around.

Any thoughts on using the existing install?

I'm using Ubuntu instead of Kubuntu but one of the things that REALLY got better between Drake and Gutsy is that a LOT more printers are now automatically (and correctly) configured out of the box. It was the case for my HP multi-function USB printer (printer, scanner and card reader).

That would be nice, I bookmarked all the pages I was at last night to get my hp psc usb working and wasn't looking forward to doing it all again. I've also considered straight Ubuntu since it's straight Gnome(I think?) and the problems I'm having are firefox (also gnome?) related.

I'm going to just do the reinstall for gutsy. Thanks Guys.
