Full Screen Flashplugin error (Dual Monitor) Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

Asked by Esteban

I have a fresh install od Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. After install ubuntu Restricted extras package, I try to view an Youtube video on firefox on my second monitor 1920x1080 resolution. And I have a false full screen of Youtube video...

When I use only one monitor, full screen works perfectly, and when the video is already charged, I plug hdmi monitor and full screen works in second screen too.

The problem is when I restart Firefox, the flash full screen feature on Youtube don't work yet.

If you uninstall flashplugin-installer and enable the partner repo, yuo can install adobe-flashplugin and get 64bit flash for your 64bit OS. Could make things better

I test this issue on Firefox, Chromium and Google Chrome. All bugged...

Firefox and Chromium have the same bug... Fake full screen with dual monitor, and when I initiate the video charge with single monitor, full screen works well on the two screens. If I reload the video on the browser (firefox and chromium) I have the fake full screen.

On Google Chrome, allways the image is distorced in full screen.

I try a lot of solutions yet... Like downgrade flash and binary editing libflashplayer.so ( http://www.ubunturoot.com/2011/07/fullscreen-flash-video-with-dual.html ) But nothing work..

I believe that this problem is not firefox or flash related. I see similar problems with multiple apps that try to do fullscreen

I use KDE and have this problem on my NVIDIA based laptop and ATI based desktop, with both cosed and free video drivers

In 12.04 when an app tried to do fullscreen, it went to fullscreen on whatever monitor the app was running on.

sometime before 12.10 this changed and it now goes fullscreen on the primary monitor, no matter what monitor the app was running on before. I started running the 12.10 beta early on, so it may have started at that time. I didn't note exactly when it started. I also run the aurora build of firefox.

I noticed it first with flash, but have run into the exact same problem when using libreoffice and okular when I tell them to go to full-screen mode.

I initially assumed it was a flash or firefox bug, but discovered later when trying to do a presentation from my laptop that it affects all fullscreen apps.

Can be... But that's is very crazy.. Some features works well like youtube on html5 but all based on flashplayer stay bugged..

If more apps have the same problem two things might be happening.. Maybe X are in troubles to put some apps to work with dual monitor, or each program is bugged individually.

You thing is the case to contact X or xorg development people?

It's possible that it's bugs in multiple programs, but bugs in multiple programs happening at around the same time seems unlikely.

it's possible that it's an x.org issue, but x.org tends to be mechansism, not policy, so the decision of what windows to put where and what to do when an app requests fullscreen seems far more likely to be a KDE related issue.

I seem to remember that there used to be a config option asking where to put new windows by default, but I'm not finding it now, did it disappear with changes that set a new default?

Can you help with this problem?
