new tab no line to enter seasrch

When I click on the Green + only a big white blank screen comes up. There is no place to put in my search request. Also the back button has disappeared.

As far as I know the + button in Firefox is just for opening a new tab. Just add a favorite to your Firefox browser or click your home page button.

OOPS! My message got sent without my sending. So I click on the green + for a new query and what comes up is a huge blank white page that says untitled, as the line used to when i started a new query, but there is no place to type in the word. It is blank and unaccessible.

Also, please note, there is no way to go back, no arrow that used to be there to take me back to the page I was working on. I have to shut the entire window down and start all over.

This happens with my Yahoo home page and also I tried it in Ubuntu with a Google search engine. Same thing. It just started happening yesterday,

at the top click view
the click toolbars
then click navigation toolbar now it should have a check-mark beside it.
