firefox is not responding?

firefox is not responding.some error like (firefox-bin) while shutdown the system.how to solve this problem or how to install the another by downloading from mozilla site.the downloaded file is in (tar.bz2)how to solve this problem..

Can you give the output of:

cat /etc/lsb-release; uname -a; apt-cache policy firefox

while shutdowning the system it some programs are not closed or force restart,something like (firefox-bin) is not closed or not responding. And suggest any website where these installation commands are available.

completely remove firefox from synaptic package manager and reinstall it from ubuntu software center.
