Hi, Use Open Office "Writer" which is in the Ubuntu Package installed for you. OpenOffice is an excellet suite. I'm using it for years with Windows and is seamless with other OS. Download the language packages from System-Preferences-P.Applications, download and install.

If you have the Microsoft Office CD on hand, you can install it using Wine. (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine )

But if you just want to save your OpenOffice in the Microsoft Office format, it is very easy to to:
1. Click the Save button
2. Type a name for the file
3. You should see two sideways triangles in the save box. Click on the triangle next to the words "File Type"
4. Scroll down until you see "Microsoft Word", anc click on it
5. Bingo!

Can you help with this problem?
