playing cd everything on screen ok but no sound New computornot made a sound since new HDMI connection any ideas Used tools sound set up seems ok

On the top right hand side of the panel there is a volume icon. Right click on it and choose "Sound Preferences." Check that the "Mute" box is not ticked. Also, while running firefox and trying to hear some sound, click the "Applications" tab in Sound Preferences and ensure that Firefox is not muted/turned down.
