It might be worth adding the "Adblock Plus" plugin. Inside firefox go up to the menu's at the top of the page and click on

Tools - Add-ons - Get Add-ons

and use the search tool there to find and install "Adblock Plus". You might be better off installing a lighter-weight we-browser such as SeaMonkey, Galeon, Opera, BonEcho.

Good luck and regards from

I made a little terminal tool that i call mb_ubuntu_optimizer you can download it via torrent:
from my link http://www.elart.it/torrents/mb_ubuntu_optimizer-0.9.torrent
once it is downloaded please stop Transmission or your .torrent client then make it executable open a terminal from Applications → Accessories → Terminal:
and type:

cd <put_here_your_downloaded_location_of_mb_ubuntu_optimizer-0.9>

chmod 700 ./mb_ubuntu_optimizer-0.93

Maximize your terminal window or you will get a warning; then run it, type:

Hi :)

Have you been able to try the new Ubuntu 10.04 before it gets officially released?
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/testing/lucid/beta2
Trying it as a LiveCd or as an extra dual/multi-boot would be ideal. Developers and everyone are keen to try to iron out any problems before 10.04 gets officially released so you might find faster & more effective answers to your bug reports which would make 10.04 work better on your system for you

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)

Hello,

I do not know if it can help but I as I was experiencing some slowness with Firefox, I've edited my /etc/hosts file and I commented the line with the machine name.
After that I disconnect/reconnect the network and Firefox works fine now.

The host file was containing the two lines
....
localhost 127.0.0.1
mymachine 127.0.1.1 <---- I've put a '#' in front of this line
....

Hope it will help you.
