problems Installing adobe flash player in firefox on ubuntu

Remove adobe-flashplugin first.

there is a package conflict remove adobe first by
apt-get remove abobe-flashplugin

I get the following: E: Couldn't find package abobe-flashplugin

Please copy and paste the result of terminal command:

dpkg -l | grep -i flash | grep -i ii

So you want to install flashplugin-nonfree_9.0.124.0ubuntu2_lpia.deb
that conflicts with

adobe-flashplugin 10.0.12.36-1 hardy1 Adobe Flash Player plugin version 10

So using terminal type:

sudo apt-get --purge remove adobe-flashplugin

then try to install...

I tried to install flash player 10 and received message package
architecture (i386) does not match system (lpia)
I then removed flash player 9 and tried to install flash player 10 again
with same results. So I'm now trying to reinstall flash player 9 with
little success.

how did you install adobe-flashplugin?

Downloaded Ubuntu img from Dell. Burned to USB drive and restored System.

This is my exact problem. Flash suddenly stopped working after a series of updates, so I installed adobe-flashplugin through the deb installer from their site. It still didn't work so I wanted to try the repo version though a bit older. Upon the attempt at installing that a conflict is displayed. After a manual attempt at removing the package it displays that it Couldn't find package adober-flashplugin. Searching for it in synaptic package manager yeilds no results.

I found that I was able to remove it with the following command line.

dpkg -r adobe-flashplugin

I was under the assumtion that since I installed the package with dpkg it would put it into the database, but I guess the the dpkg database, and the aptitue database are seperate. Sorry for the confusion, i'm still new to this whole aptitude thing.

In addition I was able to use the 64 bit version of libflashplayer.so and it works perfectly where the 32 bit version didn't. There is no installer for it, it's just available currently in a tar.gz file. Just unzip it and setup the links in your plugins directories for your browsers and you're on your way to 64 bit native processing, yay!

I am a new user of Ubuntu and I am really enjoying surfing and completing some tasks with it but the only problems remains with ADOBE FLASH PLASHER INSTALLATİON. I have tried many times but in vain; WHat I do need know is the whole procedure to install THE FLAH PLAYER to be able to deal with more tasks. Thanks a lot! I have ACER ASPIRE ONE D255E
