adobe flash player not working on AMD64 with Firefox 3

Asked by mgbridges

I installed the Adobe Flash Player using a script obtained from the Ubuntu Forums ( ). Everything seemed to complete OK but it still does not seem to work i.e. I get the message "You must download and install the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player to view this content" on websites with Flash content.

I'm using Ubunto 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) on an AMD64 architecture. Browser version is Firefox 3.

Have you tried installing the package called flashplugin-nonfree from the repository?

I used this script: http://home.comcast.net/~ubuntume/nspluginwrapper-install-0-1.8.6-2.tar.gz which installs both of the above items, as far as I'm aware.

I'm reading that script, and I don't think it moves things where they need to be for FF3, just for old FF. I suggest not using random scripts you find on the internet if you don't understand exactly what they do.

This seems more like a support request than a bug, so I'm switching it to a question.

maybe you should try this: change the mode of libflashplayer.so (which is in /usr/lib64/adobe-flashplayer) to executive.
sudo chmod 777 /usr/lib64/adobe-flashplayer.so
if you don't have this file ,this address can help you.
http://www.hotsolder.com/2008/11/flash-adobe-for-amd64-linuxubuntu.html
if don't have the director, create it.

Can you help with this problem?
