What version of ubuntu are you on?

Ubuntu 8.04 already has 'flashplugin-nonfree' of the 124 version

Installation of Flash from the Adobe website isn't supported by Ubuntu... if you really want to install Flash that way, then you need to ask Adobe for help.

Are you up-to-date on your updates? Go to System - Administration - Software Sources, Updates. Is 'hardy-updates' enabled?

I just kept on updating. I also removed the ver...99 plugin manually from the firefox plugins list and added flash again. Now the problem is solved. I see shockwave ver...124 plugin. Thanks. I do not know how this happened. However, since I had my updating enabled for hardy-main,security, universe, multi verse, updates, partners,backports.. this should not have occurred in the first place.

Yeah, odd.

If you find a reproducible way for this, please report it as a bug.
