Question #116816 “https certificate problem” : Questions : firefox-3.0 package : Ubuntu

https certificate problem

Asked by cr

I receive firefox (Ubuntu) certificate trust message when logging in to HSBC internet accounts.

I was using Ubuntu 9.10 from CD. This version was working with HSBC one month ago.
url https://www.us.hsbc.com/1/2/3/personal/online-services/personal-internet-banking/log-on

Downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 32 bit cd iso. Created CD booted and connected to net.

Ubuntu version 10.04 has the same problem as 9.10 receiving certificate trust message.

I use firefox 3.6.3 on XP and do not have the problem. I also tested google chrome without problem.
I did note that firefox in Ubuntu does not have the same certificates as firefox 3.6.3

I have been using Ubuntu CD as a secure operating system as it is running from the CD and
cannot be modified.

I would like to continue using Ubuntu for this secure purpose can you help solve the problem?

Thanks

It works in my 10.04 installation but I didn't test with the live CD. You can try to boot with a live USB persistent (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveUsbPendrivePersistent#Installing Ubuntu on USB drive using Windows) and update it. Everything you do will be stored only in the usb drive.

Can you help with this problem?
