firefox crashes linux when logging on to netflix.com

Instead of restarting, just restart the X server. Can you do this.

After going to netflix, the system is totally unresponsive. The screen
is blank and unresponsive to the keyboard. The only option at that point
is to power down the computer and then restart ubuntu. I don't know how
to restart the X server.

In preferences keyboard you can re-enable ctrl + alt + del

you can now press ctrl + alt + backspace to restart the gui. You can then view the dmesg log as well as /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see what is going on

ok, this allows me to restart the X server, but does not answer the
problem of firefox crashing in the first place.
After I crash, I restart with the ctrl alt bs trick, but I still cannot
navigate to netflix!

Well yes it does, as I said above you can run:

dmesg | tail -n 25

and read as well as run:

gedit /var/log/Xorg.0.log

and read that for clues.

I looked at the info in the 2 files suggested, but I cannot understand
what I'm looking at. Can I send you the files or can you tell me what to
look for?

Just errors and warnings, the files are quite english once you actually start reading and apply basic computer knowledge.
