Same here:
____________
** (evolution:7236): DEBUG: mailto URL command: evolution %s
** (evolution:7236): DEBUG: mailto URL program: evolution

(evolution:7236): camel-WARNING **: camel_type_register: 'CamelExchangeFolder' has smaller class size than parent 'CamelOfflineFolder'

(evolution:7236): camel-CRITICAL **: camel_object_is: assertion `o != NULL' failed

(evolution:7236): camel-CRITICAL **: camel_folder_construct: assertion `CAMEL_IS_FOLDER (folder)' failed
Segmentation fault

starting evolution with plug-ins disabled doesn't seem to help. although if I start it as a different user ie "sudo evolution" it seems to launch and the initial setup wizard comes up normally. If I remove my .evolution dir and launch evolution normally the same error returns.

I can make evolution launch if I remove the "evolution-exchange" and "evolution-exchange-dbg" packages. But then obviously I cant get my exchange mail. I tried removing evolution entirely and going back a rev but that did not work either

Similar here,

I have U8.10 64bit. I made an update today which was suggested as a partial update.
This partial update brought evolution-data-server-common 2.24.3-0ubuntu1
and uninstalled evolution-data-server 2.24.2-0 and evolution 2.24.2-0.

Attempting to reinstall evolution-data-server 2.24.2-0 throws the follwowing error:

evolution-data-server:
Depends: evolution-data-server-common (=2.24.2-0ubuntu1) but 2.24.3-0ubuntu1 is to be installed

THUS, after the last update I have no email client any more and also cannot install evolution!

Any idea what that is all about?

May i suggest you to try with Thunderbird as mail client

Thunderbird: mail/news client with RSS and integrated spam filter support
Thunderbird is a lightweight mail/news/RSS client, based on the Mozilla suite.
It supports different mail accounts (POP, IMAP, Gmail), has an integrated learning Spam filter, and offers easy organization of mails with tagging and virtual folders. Also, more features can be added by installing extensions.

To install Thunderbird simply search select and add it to your system using the System→Add/remove menu item

To install Thunderbird using terminal

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:
(when the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter)

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install thunderbird

You will find Thunderbird into Applications→Internet menu

Hope this helps

I am getting the same errors.

Renaming .evolution did not work either.

Thunderbird does not support Exchange and thus is not a viable option as an Evolution replacement.

Same issue here. Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit.

I noticed in synaptic that evolution-exchange had not been updated and was still at 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 but it was reporting that latest version was 2.24.3-0ubuntu1. I upgraded evolution-exchange and the issue is now gone.

they updated the exchange packages yesterday and it is working now for me. If you haven't already enabled pre-release update repositories (Intrepid-proposed) then do so. Your system is 64bit, ive installed the 32bit version. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with package availability but I would imagine that it could.
