cannot send mails on SMTP server: evolution reports mail from address in a wrong way (without .it)

Asked by antonella dandria

Binary package hint: evolution

Ubuntu release is 8.O4

Evolution doesn't send e-mails. When I clic the send command You read the box:

Errore durante l'esecuzione dell'operazione.
Comando MAIL FROM fallito: <dandria.antonella@libero> Invalid mail address, must be fully qualified domain

The email address ends obviously with .it, that Evolution cuts off. The SMTP server is right (mail.libero.it) and also the connection is made through the same provider.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at [WWW] https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see [WWW] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs .

Hi There,

This message is stating that you have not got a correct email address. The address

dandria.antonella@libero

is missing a vital part at the end, like a .com or a .it

You should check to make sure that you are either typing it correctly or that it's not stored incorrectly in your address book in Evolution. To double check type the full email address manually double checking it as you go, and making sure the autocomplete does not rewrite it in one of the incorrect forms you maye have accidentally done before.

I hope this helps,

Thanks,

Félim

I cant send e-mail too, but I can receive it... the server is smtp.comb.cat for send and pop3.comb.cat for receive... When I make send/receive the following error appears... error evolution no se pudo conectar con smtp.comb.cat: no hay ruta hacia el host
I called my server, but they say all is correct, but it is impossible to send any e-mail
Why?

Unfortunately that information for your SMTP and POP settings is incorrect.

Please recheck your server details and enter correctly.

You should probably seek your email team for information on setting up mail properly with there server. I cannot find any valid records for that domain.

globat server requires SMTP Server name.globat.com and POP Server Name.globat.com

I can receive mail but can not send mail

Than they stated to drop the account name to globat.com

Nothing they can come up with will send email, receive email both forms work.

Can you help with this problem?
