What do your settings look like?

This works for me and I done the following:

+ Goto Edit Preferences
+ Click the Mail Preferences
+ Under "New Mail Notification" I have selected "Play sound file when new mail arrives"
+ In the file name box I have my own custom sound

For testing you could you one of the standard sounds:
/usr/share/sounds/card-shuffle.wav

Cheers,
Dave

Hey Robbie,

With POP you have to get evolution to check for mail, whereas something like exchange can fire it to you. I have mine set to pickup mail every 10minutes via POP3.

You can do this by editing your Default Mail account and going to the "Receiving Options" tab.

On that tab you will find a tick box called "Automatically check for new mail every" and next to that a number scrollbox.

Tick the box and set the number to how many minutes between checks for new mail.

Hope that helps,
Dave

No problem Robbie.

Sorry it took so long, was updating my laptop.

Here is the steps to take:

+ Goto Edit Preferences
+ Goto Mail Accounts
+ Select you Account
+ Click Edit
+ Goto Recieving Options
+ Tick the "Automatically check for new mail after" box
+ Set the number slide to the amount of minutes you want to wait between checks for new mail

Hope this helps,
Dave
