Does your outgoing smtp server require authentication?

Thank you. No it does not. I am using *exactly* the same information I use
in outlook and it works there.

I receive messages perfectly.

Many thanks and kind regards, Zuheyr

Hi,

Maybe this might help:

In Evolution, click on the "Preferences" option, under the "Edit" menu. In the "Evolution Preferences" window that appears, select your default email account, and then click on the "Edit" button.

In the window that appears, click on the "Sending E-mail" tab, and check the settings are as follows:

Server Type: SMTP
Server: <Address of your outgoing email server> (I can't give the exact address without knowing your ISP)
Server requires authentication: Unticked
Use secure connection: No encryption

Then click on "OK" and exit out of preferences. You should now, hopefully, be able to send email.

Regards,

Stuart

Dear Stuart.

Many thanks indeed, but this is exactly what I have done. At the office we are using
Fedora core and I am also using exactly the same settings, as well as at home with the Outlook.
Maybe there is something related to certificates, security etc...

Many thanks again for your help, kind regards,
Zuheyr

Hello,

I apologize. I am using wireless connection and apparently my computer was tuned on a
wireless network without password and I did not know it...I did not notice. For some reason that is
still unclear to me, it could not then connect to my server...I still cannot understand... I used my
Outlook in several other countries using pirate wifi networks...

Please accept my excuses, many thanks, Zuheyr

Hi,
I seem to be having a similar problem using an ATT Yahoo account. The names of the POP and SMTP servers has changed. I can receive but fails to send and the error message indicates that it can't find the route to the server but it is the old server name. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard

I'm having a similar problem, but mine just started spontaneously (I think) a few days ago. I used to be able to send and receive just fine; now I can only receive. Evolution tries to send, but after a few minutes I get a pop-up that says the session has timed out. I have to move the message from my outbox to another folder to be able to reset the receive sequence.

Help, please! Anybody?
Lynne

Dear all, i just had the same problem of receiving mail but not being able to send any.
I actually had it more than once. It was solved by either entering the whole email address in the username fields and/or changing the encryption choice.

hope this help
