Evolution: Junk mail filter has no effect

Asked by bobrgv

I cannot set up Evolution to filter out junk. This applies to using Message/Create rule/Filter on subject or Filter Search Folder from subject. Apply filters and Check for junk dont work also.
Any help appreciated.

You must install spamasssasin for evolutions junk filtering based on content to work. Once you install, you will need to restart, but then it should work fine.

wirby, you can install spamassassin using Synaptic Package Manager under System --> Administration after first setting up the universe repository as per this page:-

I am a Gutsy user. I plan to be for the next 3 years. Just recently started using Spamassassin. I find that it works fine, but I made the mistake early on of marking some messages as junk. Now messages from the same senders always get marked as junk even though I keep marking them as not junk.

I have tried the instructions set out in the Evolution guide: "Removing an E-Mail Address from Your Junk List"

1. Right-click a message, then click Junk Mail Settings.

2. Select the e-mail address to remove, then click Remove.

3. Click OK.

At step 1, there is no option to select "Junk Mail Settings" or anything thing similar.

I figure I could solve the problem by adding these senders to my address book but these are my news letters and I will never send messages to these addresses.
