Unable to Define View for Address Book

Asked by Andrew

I am attempting to define a custom view for the address book/contacts so that I can print out only the relevant fields. Evolution allows me to create a view, however the edit button is disabled and I can't edit any of the fields. I am assuming this worked in an earlier version based on this URL: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/11683.html

I am using Evolution 2.8.1 on Ubuntu

Could you describe the steps you use to create the view and edit it then?

Basically there are 2 views that are predefined. I can add new views, but can't control the fields that are shown on each view. So I can't really edit views at all.

So you are trying to edit one of the stock view? You can probably edit custom views only, not the "standard" options provided by the program. Does it make sense for you? Does it work if you store your setting as a custom view?

I follow the steps given in the link given in the post (http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/11683.html), but I do not get the "My View" window after I select "Card View" in the "Type of View" field. (I do get it if I select "Table", which is what is actually shown in the tutorial.) Is it possible to modify the fields that are shown in a "Card View?" If so, how?

This solution only appears to work when creating a new LIST but will not work when either creating or trying to modify an ADDRESS CARD.
The default address card, for instance is not showing street address but is showing lots of things that I do not need like 'gender' or 'priority'.
How can I fix this?

David

This is still a problem as of today's date. I can create a new custom view, and give it a name, however if I try to modify it by clicking the Edit button, nothing happens at all. Nothing. Too bad too. I'd like to create a custom card view.

I have this *very* exactly same problem when I try to create a new view that doesn't show irrelevant information while leaving out important data like phone numbers.

I'm using Evolution 2.24.5.

I have the same issue on 2.26.1 and think it is actually a bug rather than a non-existing function. The button 'Edit' ('Bearbeiten' in German) is highlighted and would not be so if the option to modify the card view was not intended. When clicking the button nothing happens. Should this be listed as a bug?

I too am having this problem and think it should be reported as a bug.

It looks like this has been written up as a bug for some time. I've linked the bug report.

Can you help with this problem?
