New to Ubuntu, help setting up apps

Im brand new to Ubuntu and ive started setting up lots of the apps but they dont seem to be working like I thought they did.

Ones im struggling with so far

Evolution - Set up both Yahoo accounts fine, set up gmail fine, but setting up hotmails have been an issue,

1- I have marked all the old messages going back years as read but there is still some showing as unread
2 - I have 2 hotmail acounts both showing on this computer trying to work out how to separate them out
3 - Not been able to view any new messages since first refresh as whenever i chose receive it starts receiving thousands so I think its going back over all the old ones again too.

Online accounts - There seems to be two options, added all the accounts to one and nothing really happened, was expecting it to come up with chat options and notifications of facebook etc.

Also tried to change the theme to look like windows 7 (just to help navagation while im working out how it all works), in terminal entered in details, downloaded then installed the theme and it said log out to complete, did and nothing happened, tried again but same result

Also for games im trying to install im needing virtualbox and magic iso but neither seems to work.

What is "not working" about virtual box and magic iso, also online accounts doesn't do much at the moment. If you are on the latest release of ubuntu you can have websites intergrating with the desktop by just going to the website and clicking allow intergration in the dropdown that appears (this works for facebook, gmail etc)

By not working I mean i download the program, try to run and nothing happens

You can install Virtualbox and isomaster using this command:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose isomaster

MagicIso is for Windows only . isomaster is more or less an equivalent program in GNU/Linux.

Some Windows games, but definitely NOT ALL Windows games will work in Linux using "wine".
