Evolution support Gmail Two factor verification

I currently use Evolution to access my Gmail through POP, which is amazing. However for additional security I have just configured two factor verification.

I was unable to login using Evolution after this. I additionally tried to setup an application specific password, but that did not work either.

Please let me know if anyone else is having the same issue or has a solution/workaround.

I am not sure what I did differently, but I was able to get it to work.

My one piece of advice would be to leave gmail's application open until you get everything working.
