Is there a process for getting a bugfix backported into an LTS release?

The bug has already been fixed as the commit shows. My question is if it's possible to get the fix into 20.04 and if so, how.

Maybe you have to create an new bug report for requesting this update. Clearly specify that this is for Ubuntu 20.04 and that there is a known fix available for it.

An ideal solution would be to create an updated version on your system, creating a debdiff between the current and your new version and posting this debdiff file as attachment to your new bug report.
