dovecot-lucene for bionic

Asked by Yitzchak Gale

Are there plans for dovecot-lucene for bionic? I see that there are packages for xenial and cosmic, but for some reason bionic was skipped.

The reason I'm asking is that the Mail-In-a-Box project is now completing work on upgrading to bionic. At the moment there is danger that search capability might be dropped because of this package not being available in bionic.

If help is needed to achieve this - please let me know and I'll pass it on to the MIAB community. Thanks!

The reason why dovecot-lucene has been removed from bionic can be found in bug #1524526

I do not think that there is a plan to re-introduce that package.

A quick scan of the package in cosmic shows that it has a dependency (libssl1.1(>=1.1.1)) which is not fulfilled in bionic. This prevents a quick backport.

If you think that the importance of having this package available in bionic is big enough, then you might consider creating a bug report. I cannot predict what the reaction of the developers might be.
