Do I need to replace Ubuntu with Windows 10 because DNS is unreliable?

Asked by Andrew

Dear Mr. Mark Shuttleworth,

I seriously need to consider the question of "Do I need to replace Ubuntu with Windows 10 because DNS (and network-manager) is unreliable?"

Alternatively,

Could somebody please guide me as to how I could provide some diagnostic information, and assist in getting this bug sorted out in Xenial??? It's been around for months now and is blocking network traffic.

Regards,
Andrew

You don't have to use network manager, there are alternatives

I'd bet Mark doesn't read these posts. This is for users to support users in need.

How is DNS unreliable for you? What do you mean by unreliable?

Thanks

Problems with https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq randomly stops responding to requests.

Then don't use dnsmasq..... Too simple?

If you run:

echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" | sudo tee -a /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head > /dev/null

Then reboot, you won't use dnsmasq and you will use the Internet for resolutions.

Can you help with this problem?
