Unity and Gnome use different naming standards tripping users
It appears to me that Unity and Gnome text processing is confusing.
When running with "Classic Gnome" the Dconf-editor/

Running Skype, will never display the Skype icon in the top toolbar.
Unity expects to see "Skype" but Gnome expects to see "skype".
As an ugly fix, adding 'skype' to the default string and restarting Ubuntu circumvents the problem.

Can the rules please be synchronised so that a user may switch between different desktops without penalty.
