Printing problem with cups: no printing

Asked by oasis

Hi !!

I have installed Cups with the bundle for Solaris 10.
This bundle contains the packages: SUNWcups.pkg, SFWfltk.pkg , SFWoslp.pkg, SFWpnm2p and SFWxpp.pkg.

after this installation on Sparc Solaris 10 and some little changes in cupsd.conf, I add an Epson printer with the web interface on port 631.

I tried to print a test page on my Epson printer.

My test failed. In the cups logs file I have this error :

Unable to convert file 0 to printable format for job 1!
Hint: do you have ESP Ghostscript installed ?

I looked for the ESP Ghostscript package :

the command "pkginfo | grep -i esp "

give this result => system SUNWgscr espgs - ESP GhostScript

So I have ESP Ghostscript installed but cups can't found it.

I add in the PATH variable the directory "/usr/sfw/bin" where the ESP Ghostscript is installed. I stopped cupsd and restart it.

After a new test, I have the same problem....

Please if you already have this problem tell me how you resolved it.

Thanks a lot
