cant get hp deskjet 2480 to run

Asked by johm mcconnell

cant get my new f2480 hp printer to work. the setup for ubuntu suggested it be runas a f2200 but it dosent print at all. i tried downloading the debian package hplip 3.9.10.run but the package installer says it is missing components (or something to that effect). i had an older all in one printer , i believe a 2200 that worked fine, but it died and this one is not working at all. has anyone had any experience with this printer setup???

i ran from the terminal hplip-3.9.12.run and after answering a few questions (mostly sheer guesses)
it seems to have done something to make the printer run properly. I did not try the scan function, because I really have little use for it, but the copier works perfectly and the printer prints everything, so far, to my satisfaction.

The file was to be run from command line, this is normal. Most of the time the defaults suggested are ideal and will give what you need. The HPLIP driver should also give access to the scanning via xsane / gimp / whatever so you should be ok.

Can you help with this problem?
