Canon support is notoriiosly crap in Linux but seems the openprinting guys have some gold for you:

Driver will cost 30 Euros. Could get a compatible cheap HP printer for that, your call.

Thanks for that my man. Unfortunately, much as I'd like to sell the client an HP, we dont have one which does what the Canon does. Do you know where can we buy the driver?
