compatiple printers

Can any one recommend a printer which can work with Windows 7 & Ununtu 12.04 operating systems?

I have a Canon "Pixma iP2200" printer, but it would not print when Ubuntu 12.04 is in operation, in spite of the fact that the operating system recognises this printer.

Personally I use brother network printers. I want a network printer because I don't want to have to ensure one PC is on when I print from another. I use Brother because the first one I bought worked well so I stayed with them.

I'm sure you will get a lot of other answers too, Most HP printers work straight out of the box if using USB.

When you pick one I suggest you ask another question. Something like: "I have ubuntu version (insert here) and am thinking of buy a (insert manufacter) printer model (insert model). Has any body else got one and are there any problems getting it to work"
