Looking for drivers for Canon PIXMA MX300 in Ubuntu 10.04

Someone already had asked this question before.

but the web page doesn't link to anything. i.e. Printer not found

We're sorry, but the printer ID you provided was not found in our database

so, i'm asking the community, does someone have a driver for this stashed somewhere? or know where i can find one that works for ubuntu 10.04 / Cups? my wife and i both love Ubuntu after using it for just a few weeks now, but unless she can print, there's no point in using the OS. thanks in advance :)

Hi,

You can see the list of Canon printers on this page:

Unfortunately, Canon Pixma MX340 (which looks close to your model) is listed in the last category of not being supported by the Linux kernel.

You have some suggestions that it may possibly work under Linux here:

where it says that a backend could support pixma mx300.

the printer should work using the Canon PIXMA MP150 gutenprint driver for CUPS.

Hi,
I have just installed Canon Pixma MX300 in Lucid Lynx: the printer driver is the one of PIXMA MP150 (someone wrote also PIXMA MP160); for the scanner, Sane recognizes it immediately so Simple Scan works fine immediately. The last device I have to set up is the fax. Does anybody know?
