luksFormat wiping raid metadata from end of device?

Does luksFormat properly wipe old RAID metadata from end of device?

If it does not, the device will look like a RAID device *containing* luks, and might get set up as such leading to data inconsistency and corruption.

It should probably always wipe the beginnig and end of a divice prior to installing luks metadata.

in a terminal try

dmraid --help
sudo dmraid -s

if there is any metadata present and you need to remove it then

sudo dmraid -rE

should do the trick.
