Can conky be treated like the GNOME Panel by the window manager?

Asked by Allan Caeg

Conky makes my desktop experience much better because it effectively informs me about what is happening to my system and it has a very small footprint. Unlike the GNOME System Monitor, it is easier to access because it is always on. However, I need to show my desktop, or at least, let no window cover it for me to see it.

Is there a way for conky to be like the GNOME Panel, a space that windows cannot cover? I have the idea of making an extra panel where I can put conky on top of it but conky always avoids the panel.

Any suggestion? :)

what about using conky as windowed application and set it to be always in foreground. it might cover other windows by this solution. (to set it staying in foreground, simply right-click on the window-bar on the top and choose the option.

Can you help with this problem?
